Let x = hours taken by William to assemble a computer.
Let y = hours taken by Douglas to assemble a computer

Because William takes 2 hours less than Douglas to assemble a computer, therefore
x = y - 2

When working together, they assemble 25 computers in 60 hours. Therefore
(x + y hours/computer)*(25 computers) = (60 hours)
25(x + y) = 60
x + y = 2.4

Because x = y - 2, obtain
y - 2 + y = 2.4
2y = 4.4
y = 2.2
x = y - 2 = 2.2 - 2 = 0.2

William takes 0.2 hours (12 minutes) to assemble a computer.
Douglas takes 2.2 hours (or 2 hours, 12 minutes) to assemble a computer.

sveticcg [70]

Step-by-step explanation:

We have, Sorin hits a cricket ball straight up into the air. After 1.5 s, the ball is falling straight down with a speed of 6.5 m/s.

We want to find the initial vertical velocity of the ball.

The relation between initial speed, final speed, acceleration and time is given by using first equation of kinematics. Let v₀ is the initial speed. So,

v=v_o +at

Here, v = -6.5 m/s, t = 1.5 s and a = -g

v_o=v-at\\\\v_o=v+gt\\\\v_o=-6.5+9.8\times 1.5\\\\v_o=8.2\ m/s

So, the initial velocity of the ball is 8.2 m/s and the formula used is (1).

(9c – 8d) + (2c – 6) + (–d + 3)=
Feliz [49]

Explanation: Just addition and subtraction which is easy, I'd remove the brackets first so it won't be too confusing.

9c-8d+2c-6-d+3=???

Here, just remember that:

  • Plus/Positive multiply Minus/Negative = Minus/Negative
  • Plus/Positive multiply Plus/Positive = Positive/Plus
  • Minus/Negative multiply Minus/Negative = Positive/Plus

Notice the +(-d+3), (+)(-) = - so it's -d+3

Now just addition and subtraction, for better looking and non-confusing.

9c+2c-8d-d-6+3=???\\9c+2c-8d-d-6+3=11c-9d-3

9c+2c = 11c

-8d-d = -9d

-6+3 = -3

Therefore, the answer is 11c-9d-3

If you are confused, you can reply to this explanation (If it's wrong, let me know.)

The table below shows selected points from a function.
stiv31 [10]

Answer:

The rate of change for the interval shown in the table is 1 , so the function is a linear function.

Step-by-step explanation:

See the table attached.

The table shows selected points from a function.

Now, the given interval is x = 1 to x = 4.

For, x = 1, f(x) = 2 and for x = 4. the function f(x) = 5.

Therefore, the rate of change for the interval shown in the table i.e slope of the line is \frac{5 - 2}{4 - 1} = 1 and it is constant throughout the interval so the function is a linear function. (Answer)
