Using the point-gradient form y - y₁ = m ( x - x₁ )
y₁ = 3;  x₁ = -5;  m =  - \frac{6}{5}

 ⇒  y - 3 =  - \frac{6}{5} ( x - (-5))
 ⇒  y - 3 =  - \frac{6}{5} (x + 5)

Now, you can approach here in two ways: put it in the y-intercept form or the general form.

In the y-intercept form;
      y - 3 = - \frac{6}{5}x + (- \frac{6}{5} (5))
      y - 3 =  - \frac{6}{5}x - 6
           y =  - \frac{6}{5}x - 3

In the general form;
    y - 3 =  - \frac{6}{5} (x + 5)
       by multiplying through by 5
⇒    5 ( y - 3 ) = -6 ( x + 5)
⇒       5y - 15 = -6x - 30
⇒      5y + 6x = -15

∴ the line that passes through (-5, 3), with gradient - \frac{6}{5} is
 y =  - \frac{6}{5}x - 3 (y-intercept form)  OR  5y + 6x = -15 (general form).

Amelia wants to paint three walls in her family room two walls are 26 feet long by 9 feet wide the other wall is 18 feet long by
Svetllana [295]
26 by 9
Area = L*W
Area = 26 * 9
Area = 234 square feet but there are 2 such walls
Area = 234 * 2
Area = 468 square feet total for these walls.

18 by 9
Area = L*W
Area = 18 * 9
Area = 162 square feet

Total area = 468 + 162 = 630 square feet.

1 gallon covers 250 square feet
x gallon covers 630 square feet

1/x = 250/630
250 x = 1 * 630
x = 630 / 250
x = 2.52 gallons. It is best that she buy 3 gallons of paint.

How do you solve f (x)=-3 (x+2)+2
Allushta [10]

Answer:

−1/3y+−4/3

Step-by-step explanation:

We need to solve for x.

How? Easy! :D

Step one: Flip the equation. (In class we call it the 'flip-flop'.) When you do this, you should have your equation look like this:

−3x−4=y

Step two: Add 4 to both sides of the equation. When you do this step, your problem should look like this:

−3x−4+4=y+4

−3x=y+4

Step three: Divide both sides by -3.

-3x/-3 = y+4/-3.

Step four: Wrap-up. What the answer is.

x = -1/3y + -4/3

Final step: OUR ANSWER!

x = -1/3 + -4/3

Hope this helped! :D
