Answer:

Yes they could have becuase if the British never taxed the Americans, there would never be a war in the first place and America still might be in control of Britain to this day. WIthout a tax, the Americans have nothing to complain for so there would never be a war. Another alternative is that the American colonists just accepted the taxes and agreed on everything and there would be reason be a war in the first place. If the Americans agreed to the taxes and paid it all, than the British wouldn’t have anything g to worry about. The last alternative I could think of Is that if the british just lets them keep the land and they can run themselves, if the British just gives in depended to them, it would avoid all conflicts.
