f(x) = x^4-8x^2+5

We let x square =y

so x to the power 4 = y square

and we get

f(y)= y^2-8y+5

To find the zroes, we need to set f(y) to 0 and solve for y .

y^2 -8y+5=0

Now we use completing the square method

y^2 -8y +16=-5+16

(y-4)^2 = 11

y-4 = - \sqrt{11} , y-4 = \sqrt{11}

y= 4 - \sqrt{11} , 4+ \sqrt{11}

Now we do the back substitution.

x^2 = 4- \sqrt{11} \\ x = - \sqrt{4 - \sqrt{11}} , \sqrt{4-\sqrt{11}} and

x^2 = 4+ \sqrt{11} \\ x = - \sqrt{4 + \sqrt{11}} , \sqrt{4+\sqrt{11}}

Ismael made a scaled copy of the following
bixtya [17]

Answer:

Options (A), (B) and (C)

Step-by-step explanation:

In the given figure,

Length of side AD = 16 units

If this side is scaled by a factor = k

Then the length of the corresponding side will be = 16k

If 0 < k < 1,

Then length of the corresponding side will be less than 16.

[Example: If k = \frac{1}{4}

Therefore, scaled side of the corresponding side of the quadrilateral = 16\times \frac{1}{4} = 4]

That means length of corresponding sides may be 4, 6.5 and 12.

Options (A), (B) and (C) will be the answer.

Here’s Question three
Hitman42 [59]

Answer:

BD = 3 units

Step-by-step explanation:

Since, AD is an angle bisector of ∠BAC,

m∠BAD = m∠CAD = 20°

CD = 3 units

In ΔACD and ΔABD,

m∠BAD = m∠CAD = 20° (Given)

AD ≅ AD [Reflexive property]

Therefore, by H-A property of congruence both the triangles will be congruent.

And by CPCTC,

CD ≅ BD = 3 units
