You have to do like draw a number line and do the opposite and you'll get your answer and add them together and you'll get 45.5

You could add twelve to -12 which would cancel it out. then add twelve to -44 which would give you -32=8n.
then divide 8n by 8n which cancels it out, then divided -32 by 8n which gives you -4.
