X - 7y = 10
-7y = -x + 10
y = 1/7x - 10/7....slope here is 1/7, y int = -10/7

2x + 4y = 21
4y = -2x + 21
y = -1/2x + 21/4...slope is -1/2, y int = 21/4

neither <==

for them to be parallel, they would need the same slope
for them to be perpendicular, they would need negative reciprocal slopes
they have neither

To decide, you would better find their slopes

<span>x - 7y = 10
-7y = 10-x
y = 1/7 x -10/7

the slope = 1/7

</span>
<span>2x +14y = 21
14y = 21 - 2x
y = 21/14 - 2/14 x
y = -1/7 x + 3/2

the slope = -1/7

</span>

For parallel lines:<span>
</span>"All parallel lines have the same slope!"

--------------

For perpendicular lines:<span>
</span>"Their slopes' product is -1"

For our case, they are not parallel nor perpendicular

A bacteria cell splits into two cells every hour. Write and evaluate an exponential expression to find how many cells there will
ryzh [129]
Easy

equation is
f(x)=2ˣ

where x=number of hours elapsed

after 6 hours
f(6)=2⁶=64 bacteria

to solve for 1024

1024=2ˣ
take ln of both sides
ln(1024)=ln(2ˣ)
ln(1024)=x(ln(2))
divide both sides by ln(2)
ln(1024)/ln(2)=x
using calculator
10=x

or you could recognize that
1024=2¹⁰
or keep divising 1024 by 2

Oil is pumped into a tank at a rate of Q(t)=45-t gallons per minute where time is t is measured in minutes how many gallons are
FinnZ [79.3K]

Answer:

15 gallons

Step-by-step explanation:

Given that:

Pumping rate is modeled by the equation :

Q(t)=45-t gallons per minute ; where t is in minutes

Number of gallons in tank after 30 minutes ;

Q(t)=45-t

Q(30) = 45 - 30

Q(30) = 15

Hence, Number of gallons in tank after 30 minutes is 15 gallons
