The five is in the hundredths place. With decimals, there are many places. First there is the tenths, then the hundreths, then the thousands, and then the ten thousandths and so on. Since the four is first, it is in the ten thousandths and the 5 is next so it is in the hundreths.

An angle in a triangle measures 138 °. The other two angles are congruent. Enter and solve an equation to find the x measure of
Juli2301 [7.4K]

Hey there! I"m happy to help!

The interior angles of a triangle add up to 180. We have 2 angles that have a value of x, so 2x+138=180.

We subtract 138 from both sides.

2x=42

We divide both sides by 2

x=21.

Have a wonderful day! :D

1. Trapezoid BEAR has a height of 8.5 centimeters and parallel bases that measure 6.5 centimeters and 11.5 centimeters. To the n
e-lub [12.9K]

Given

1) Trapezoid BEAR with bases 11.5 and 6.5 and height 8.5, all in cm.

2) Regular pentagon PENTA with side lengths 9 m

Find

The area of each figure, rounded to the nearest integer

Solution

1) The area of a trapezoid is given by

... A = (1/2)(b1 +b2)h

... A = (1/2)(11.5 +6.5)·(8.5) = 76.5 ≈ 77

The area of BEAR is about 77 cm².

2) The conventional formula for the area of a regular polygon makes use of its perimeter and the length of the apothem. For an n-sided polygon with side length s, the perimeter is p = n·s. The length of the apothem is found using trigonometry to be a = (s/2)/tan(180°/n). Then the area is ...

... A = (1/2)ap

... A = (1/2)(s/(2tan(180°/n)))(ns)

... A = (n/4)s²/tan(180°/n)

We have a polygon with s=9 and n=5, so its area is

... A = (5/4)·9²/tan(36°) ≈ 139.36

The area of PENTA is about 139 m².

Constance invested $4000 for 3 years in a savings account paying simple interest with a yearly interest rate of 3.5%. How much s
castortr0y [4]
To solve this problem you might have to use this formula y=a(1+r)^t A=amount of money you already have 1= a set number R= rate T= time YOUR GIVENS ARE: A=4000 R= 3.5% (0.035) decimals T= 3 years NOW lets plug IN everything in the FORMULA y=4000(1+.035)^3= $4434.87. NOW lets subtract 4000-4434=434. She earned $434 of simple interest.
