The expression that can be used in order to express the amount of money that Morgan has after spending s will be,

 <em>  x = 150 - s</em>

where x is a variable that we can use in order to denote the amount she will have left, 150 is the original amount of money as stated in the problem and s is the amount spent.

For the evaluation, we simply have to substitute the given values in place of s and calculate for the value of x.

(1)   s = $27.13
    x = 150 - 27.13
   <em> x = $122.87</em>

(2)  s = $55.14
   x = 150 - 55.14
   <em>x = $94.86</em>

Riley makes a mistake in step 2 while doing her homework. What was her mistake? StartFraction x Over x squared minus 5 x + 6 End
kobusy [5.1K]

Answer:

The answer is:

She used the wrong common denominator

Step-by-step explanation:

Solving the given equation

\frac{x}{x^2-5x+6}+\frac{x}{x+3}\\\\Step 1: \frac{x}{(x-2)(x-3)}+\frac{x}{x+3}\\Step2: \frac{x}{(x-2)(x-3)}+\frac{x(x-2)}{(x-2)(x+3)}\\Step3:\frac{x(x+3)+x(x-2)(x+3)}{(x-2)(x-3)(x+3)}

Lets consider the steps given in the question:

Step2: \frac{x}{(x-2)(x+3)}+\frac{3(x-2)}{(x-2)(x+3)}

Step3: \frac{x+3(x-2)}{(x-2)(x+3)}\\

Lets compare both solutions:

In the original solution, the denominator of first term is (x-2)(x-3)

In the solution given in the question, the denominator of first term is (x-2)(x+3).

So the mistake she did in step 2 was that she change the sign of 3 in (x-3) from negative to positive, due to which she gets the wrong common denominator shown in Step 3.

In a probability experiment, Karen flipped a coin 84 times. The coin landed on heads 36 times. What percentage of the coin flips
hodyreva [135]

Answer:

57.1%

Step-by-step explanation:

We know that a coin has only two sides, heads or tails. Therefore if of the 84 times, 36 times he fell in heads, the other times he fell in tails.

84 - 36 = 48 times fell in tails.

Therefore to calculate the percentage that fell in tails, it would be the ratio between the number of times it fell in tails and the total number of experiments:

48/84 = 0.571, and that is 57.1%

Which means that 57.1% of the times the coin was thrown fell into tails.
