Solve the equation using the Zero Product Property.
ivolga24 [154]

Answer:

-1.25, 2, 3.5

Step-by-step explanation:

(x-2)(2x-7)(4x+5)=0

(2x^2-7x-4x+14)(4x+5)=5

from now on you know that either

(2x^2-7x-4x+14)=0 or

(4x+5)=0

By solving the first eqation (2x^2-7x-4x+14)=0

you get x = 2 or 3.5

By solving the second equation (4x+5)=0

you get x = -1.25

AleksandrR [38]

Answer:

$10.54

Step-by-step explanation:

Melissa purchased $39.46 in groceries at a store.

She gave the cashier a $50 bill.

Her Change = Total Amount Given - Cost of Purchased Goods

                    =50-39.46=$10.54

The Cashier should have given Melissa $10.54 instead of $1.46.

When Sergio went to dinner with his brother, the bill was $51.19. What was the total they paid if they left a 15% tip?
bogdanovich [222]

Answer:

The total they paid was $58.8685

Step-by-step explanation:

Let us solve the question using the percentage method

∵ Sergio went to dinner with his brother

∵ The bill was $51.19

∵ They left a 15% tip

→ That means they pay extra money 15% of $51.19

∴ The total they paid = the bill + 15% of the bill

∵ 15% of the bill = 15% × 51.19

→ Change 15% to a decimal by divide it by 100

∴ 15% of the bill = \frac{15}{100} × 51.19

∴ 15% of the bill = 0.15 × 51.19

∴ 15% of the bill = $7.6785

→ Substitute it in the total they paid

∵ The total they paid = 51.19 + 7.6785

∴ The total they paid = $58.8685

∴ The total they paid was $58.8685
