It is asking for x which is the unknown variable. This is an equation sentence that says x+4 must equal -2x-2.

So first you want to find the value amount of the unknown variable x. There are many ways to do this depending on the person who is solving it. Personally I substitute random numbers logically until I find the correct answer.

The value of x is found to be -2.

Here: -2+4 ( which is 2)= -2 (-2) -2 ( which equals 2 also).

Hope I explained. Please vote my answer brainliest. thanks!

Kenya Kon sells dishwashers. He earns an 8% commission on sales. How much must be sell in order to earn $3000?
Karolina [17]
Use a variable to solve for this.

x * .08 = 3000

Divide by .08 on both sides.
x = 37500

We can check this by inputting 37500 for x.

37500 * .08 = 3000
3000 = 3000

Kenya Kon must earn $37500 to earn $3000.

The lengths of two sides of a triangle are 10 and 24, and the third side is x. How many whole number values are possible for x.
solong [7]

Answer:

20.

Step-by-step explanation:

In any triangle, the sum of the lengths of any two sides should be strictly greater than the length of the third side. For example, if the length of the three sides are a, b, and c:

a + b > c,

a + c > b, and

b + c > a.

In this question, the length of the sides are 10, 24, and x. The length of these sides should satisfty the following inequalities:

10 + 24 > x,

10 + x > 24, and

24 + x > 10.

Since x > 0, the inequality 24 + x > 10 is guarenteed to be satisfied.

Simplify 10 + 24 > x to obtain the inequality x < 35.

Similarly, simplify 10 + x > 24 to obtain the inequality x > 14.

Since x needs to be a whole number, the greatest x that satisfies x < 35 would be 34. Similarly, the least x\! that satisfies x > 14 would be 15. Thus, x\!\! could be any whole number between 15\! and 34\! (inclusive.)

There are a total of 34 - 15 + 1 = 20 distinct whole numbers between 15 and 34 (inclusive.) Thus, the number of possible whole number values for x would be 20.

Find the average rate of change of each function over the interval [0, 2]. Match each representation with its respective average
marishachu [46]
Average rate of change over interval [a,b]: r=[f(b)-f(a)]/(b-a)
In this case the interval is [0,2], then a=0, b=2
r=[f(2)-f(0)]/(2-0)
r=[f(2)-f(0)]/2

1) First function: h(x)
r=[h(2)-h(0)]/2
x=2→h(2)=(2)^2+2(2)-6
h(2)=4+4-6
h(2)=2
x=0→h(0)=(0)^2+2(0)-6
h(0)=0+0-6
h(0)=-6
r=[h(2)-h(0)]/2
r=[2-(-6)]/2
r=(2+6)/2
r=(8)/2
r=4

2) Second function: f(x)
A function, f, has an
x-intercept at (2,0)→x=2, f(2)=0
and a y-intercept at (0,-10)→x=0, f(0)=-10
r=[f(2)-f(0)]/2
r=[0-(-10)]/2
r=(0+10)/2
r=(10)/2
r=5

3) Third function: g(x)
r=[g(2)-g(0)]/2
From the graph:
g(2)=6
g(0)=2
r=(6-2)/2
r=(4)/2
r=2

4) Fourth function: j(x)
r=[j(2)-j(0)]/2
From the table:
x=2→j(2)=-8
x=0→j(0)=4
r=(-8-4)/2
r=(-12)/2
r=-6

Answer:
Pairs

2) f(x)      5
3) g(x)     2
