Can someone please explain? I don't understand! Solve. x + 4 = −2x − 2

It is asking for x which is the unknown variable. This is an equation sentence that says x+4 must equal -2x-2.

So first you want to find the value amount of the unknown variable x. There are many ways to do this depending on the person who is solving it. Personally I substitute random numbers logically until I find the correct answer.

The value of x is found to be -2.

Here: -2+4 ( which is 2)= -2 (-2) -2 ( which equals 2 also).
