Explanation:

With the improvement in observational tool, GIS technique has proved exceptionally helpful in tracing the natural resources. The pixels number and color help us to trace the changes in quantity as well as quality.

For example -

Suppose,  a river and its channel is being traced through GIS.

In year 1991, the number of pixels covering a certain area and of sky blue color signifies large volume , area of water and its good quality respectively

However, after 10 years  image of same are may show a change in previous observation such as reduction in number of blue pixels and also change in color from blue to red signifying increase in pollution level.
