The answer that I calculated is 17 trains of 10 cubes each train.

100+70=170
170/10=17

You'd get 80 trains out of it, with one block left over, it's simple math

100 + 701 = 801 and you take 801/10 which is 80.1, so it's 80 trains and 1 block left over that wont be used

for any fraction a/b, the decimal format of it is just a ÷ b.

A)

is the number rational?

well, a rational number is one we can write as a ration or fraction, well clearly is a fraction so it is rational.

B)

can it be written as a repeating/recurring decimal?  well, 9/20 is 0.45, so -9/20 is -0.45, no repeating decimal like 0.454545......... , just a plain vanilla -0.45, so nope.

C)

is it less than -0.4?

well, let's recall that for the negative side on the number line, the closer to 0, the larger the number, so then -1,000,000 is much smaller than -1, because -1 is closer to 0.

who is closer -0.4 or -0.45?

|---------------------  -0.45  --------  -0.40  -------------------  0  ---------------  1  -------------------|

so, -0.45 is farther from 0, and therefore is smaller than -0.4, so yes.

What is the average rate of change of the function over the interval x = 0 to x = 8? f(x)=2x−1/3x+5 Enter your answer, as a frac
max2010maxim [7]

Answer:

15 2/3, or 47/3

Step-by-step explanation:

I'm going to assume, correctly or not, that you actually meant f(x) = 2x^2 - (1/3)x + 5.  Double check on this right now, please.

If I'm right, then evaluate f(x) at x = 0 and x = 8:

f(0) = 5

and

f(8) = 2(8)^2 - (1/3)(8) + 5 = 128 - 8/3 + 5 = 133  - (2 2/3), or:   130 1/3

Then the average rate of change of f(x) = 2x^2 - (1/3)x + 5 over the interval [0,8] is:

                130 1/3 - 5         125 1/3

a. r. c. = ------------------- = ---------------- = 15 2/3, or 47/3

                     8 - 0                  8
