Scientists believed human evolution happened because they can trace our ancestry/DNA back to apes and other organisms. And because scientists are mainly against the idea that humanity was created by a higher being, they have found other ways to show we evolved ourselves.

HOW DO NATURAL SELECTION AND INHERITED VARIATIONS INFLUENCE A POPULATION?
Eva8 [605]

Answer: Genetic variation is an important force in evolution as it allows natural selection to increase or decrease frequency of alleles already in the population. ... Genetic variation is advantageous to a population because it enables some individuals to adapt to the environment while maintaining the survival of the population. Because natural selection acts directly only on phenotypes, more genetic variation within a population usually enables more phenotypic variation. Some new alleles increase an organism's ability to survive and reproduce, which then ensures the survival of the allele in the population.
