Pericles was more of politician while Confucius has been classified by many as a philosopher. The idea that they had different positions and were from very different parts of the world made them very distinct figures. Pericles was more academic and war oriented focusing on establishing sound social and political structures. Confucius promoted the goodness in people and the service to others as a way to be spiritually free.
