Uno de los grandes cambios sociales y políticos que experimentó Chile entre el siglo XIX y el siglo XX fue el surgimiento de una clase media inexistente hasta ese momento. Esa clase media se fue desarrollando hasta el grado de representar un peso específico muy considerable en el crecimiento económico de Chile

La presencia de la clase media fortaleció la administración pública y las actividades comerciales.

Otro aspecto importante entre los siglos XIX y XX fue la posibilidad de que los chilenos pudieran tener acceso a los diferentes niveles de educación para poder incrementar sus oportunidades de desarrollo.

De igual manera, la presencia de la mujer en los lugares de trabajo representó un elemento considerable en el sector laboral.
