Scout first notices a change in Atticus' behaviour towards Alexandra after both of them had spoken with each other and argued about the employment of Calpurnia. Atticus was a man who was against prejudice and he was tired of Alexandra trying to have Calpurnia fired. Alexandra had tried to take over the family household since she had arrived from Finch's landing, Atticus was well aware of this and confronted Alexandra. All of these events play a part in driving Atticus to breaking point and show how he changes throughout the story and his fmaily begins to notice.
