Refer to Explorations in Literature for a complete version of the text. Based on what he writes in “Letter from Birmingham Jail,

” how has living as an African American man in a segregated society affected Martin Luther King Jr.'s viewpoint? It has taught him that all white people are selfish and untrustworthy. It has led him to believe that African Americans must actively seek to end racial injustice and oppression. It has proven to him that change cannot be forced upon society by those who are unhappy or oppressed. It has helped him see that the only path to justice and equality is through violent resistance and revolution.

The correct answer is B.

King's "Letter from Birmingham Jail,” was a response to a letter published in a newspaper decrying the demonstrations and calling them "unwise."

Here, King talks about how important it is for African Americans to fight for his rights and to end racial segregation. He understood that it was up to them to end the discrimination, since all the clergyman and the white moderates who supposedly believed in his cause didn't like the "tension" and unrest caused by the protests.

In it, she challenged accepted principles, by stating that women were not naturally inferior to men, but that they only lacked education and opportunities for development. She was a proponent of reason in all social matters. Wollstonecraft was also known because of her unconventional lifestyle.

Answer:In chapter 5, when Scrooge wakes up, he is a changed person. One change is involuntary. He is happy and excited. He dances around the house preparing for the day. At one point, the excitement gets to him, and he laughs uncharacteristically:

Really, for a man who had been out of practice for so many years, it was a splendid laugh, a most illustrious laugh. The father of a long, long line of brilliant laughs!

Dickens uses the laugh to show how overwhelmed Scrooge is by happiness and excitement.

The next example shows a voluntary change in Scrooge. The day after Christmas, Scrooge decides to pretend he is his old self again. He wants to play a joke on his clerk, Bob Cratchit, who doesn’t realize that Scrooge has changed. After giving Cratchit a scare, he reveals the new Scrooge in a dramatic fashion:

“Now, I’ll tell you what, my friend,” said Scrooge, “I am not going to stand this sort of thing any longer. And therefore,” he continued, leaping from his stool, and giving Bob such a dig in the waistcoat that he staggered back into the Tank again; “and therefore I am about to raise your salary!”
