Nicolas Copernicus published a work in 1543 that showed a model of the solar system in which the centre was the Sun, with Earth and other planets moving around it. This system was opposed to the Ptolomeic one which put Earth on the center, as this model was adopted by the catholic church, it became hegemonic.

Galileo supported the Copernicus model, based on his observations with telecopes, he was the frist one to use them for astronomical observation. He observed the phases of Venus, that are simmilar to the Moon ones, and determined that they were only possibled if Venus was between the Earth and the Sun. This could only work if the Sun was the centre of the solar system.

On the way, they were backed by enslaved people on near granges and colonies and by networks of free African Americans and European Americans. By 1860, an estimated,000 people had escaped from slavery.

Write three to five sentences summarizing your response to the question, "What conclusions can you draw about the men who wrote the Constitution?"

During the indigenous Convention, numerous debates arose about what a new Constitution and new US government should look like.Questions of representation in the new government were resolved through the Connecticut concession and Three-Fifths concession.

Other notable debates included the debate over slavery, limitations of republic, and how to help the civil government from gaining too important power.Opinions on the new Constitution were deeply divided between Federalists anti-federalists, and the Constitution only hardly won blessing.

The Bill of Rights, written in 1789 and espoused in 1791, was added to the Constitution to meetAnti-Federalist demands and insure individual rights.

Despite the Revolutionary testament that “ all men are created equal, ” the rights of populace barred slaves, free blacks, Native Americans, and Asians, and women were barred from voting and property rights; this laid the foundation for the United States as a democracy of white men.

  • Connecticut Compromise An agreement that large and small countries reached during the indigenous Convention of 1787, that in part defined the legislative structure and representation that each state would have under the Constitution.
  • indigenous Convention A meeting that took place May 25 to September 17, 1787, in Philadelphia, with the original purpose of revising the papers of Confederation.
  • Three-Fifths concession An agreement between Southern and Northern states that allowed a portion of the slave population to be counted for representation purposes regarding both the distribution of levies and allotment of members of the House of Representatives.
