The transportation revolution created connections between Americans by connecting settlements of people that were unable to communicate or connect with one another in the past. The revolution created a means of exchanging people, products, and ideas by opening an opportunity for economic and social growth and movement. The midwest was now connected to the east coast via transportation, which meant that goods and services could be moved back and forth and information could be spread that would not have been spread otherwise.
