B. Access to raw materials.

Further Explanation-

The United States wanted to consolidate itself as a state and establish its footprint on the international forefront as a power to be reckoned with. The age of imperialism had already set in Europe, and Britain, France, Germany, Spain, etc. were extending their territory and political influence beyond the continent. The Spanish American war gave an opportunity to the United States to have experience in trained combat, and capture territories, and now she began to think of expanding her territorial and political influence beyond the Pacific. The main purpose of colonization was twofold, to gain access to the vast raw materials and resources that were available in Asian and African countries, and to find a market where they could sell the finished products at a profit.

Imperialism is a concept by which a nation acquires territory beyond its regions in another continent, with the sole purpose of exploitation of its natural resources. The United States was now recognized as a military power, as her newly acquired territories were integrated within her Governance. This was the beginning of the journey of the United States on her journey to become a superpower in the twentieth century and place herself at the centre of international politics. The United States helped to liberate Cuba from Spanish control, thereby already extending her influence in international politics. However, the war was not limited to helping Cuba against the Spanish, and emerged in an imperialist war for taking over the Spanish empire in the Caribbean, so that American interests would be protected in the Pacific Ocean, and as far as mainland Asia, especially China.

allsm [11]

Answer:

\boxed {\boxed {\sf A. \ Just \ a \ matter \ of \ time}}

Explanation:

Thomas Paine published Common Sense in 1776. He wrote this with one purpose: independence.

He hoped that his pamphlet would stir up feelings of discontent and anger to convince more colonists to join the movement of independence. He knew American independence was necessary and inevitable, but was also aware that more support translated to better results.

So he didn't think independence was impossible, uncertain, or illegal, but he suggested it was just a matter of time.
