since speed for going to park is 4 mph

time taken =\frac{distance}{speed} \\= \frac{x}{4}

likewise speed while  returning to home  is 6 mph

time taken on returning = \frac{distance}{speed} \\= \frac{x}{6}

total time = 1\frac{1}{2}hours

 \frac{x}{4} +\frac{x}{6} =\frac{3}{2}

\frac{3x+2x}{12}=\frac{3}{2}

\frac{5x}{12}=\frac{3}{2}

on solving ,we get

5x =18

x = 3.6 miles
