<span>Historically, falls are the leading cause of fatalities in construction, accounting for about one-third of all fatalities in the industry. OSHA recognizes that incidents involving falls are generally complex events, frequently involving a variety of factors. The standard for fall protection relates to the human and equipment-related issues to protect workers. The 6-foot rule means that for workers working at heights of 6 feet or greater above a lower level. This applies at heights of less than 6 feet when working near dangerous equipment, for example, working on machinery with open drive belts, pulleys or gears or open vats of degreasing agents or acid.</span>

Birk Camera Shop Inc. uses the lower-of-cost-or-market basis for its inventory. The following data are available at December 31.
Kitty [74]

Answer:

$4,373

Explanation:

we will check lower of cost or market for individual items:

Minolta :

= Market value per unit × No. of units

= 158 × 5

= $790

Canon :

= Cost per unit × No. of units

= 145 x 7

= $1,015

Vivitar:

=  Market value per unit × No. of units

= 114 x 12

= $1,368

Kodak:

= Cost per unit × No. of units

= 120 x 10

= $1,200

Total amount should be reported on Brik Camera Shop's financial statements:

= $790  + $1,015  + $1,368  + $1,200

= $4,373

Tom sold his home for $140,000 paying a 7% real estate commission. He bought the home for $45,000, paid $2,000 in closing costs,
Igoryamba

Answer:

$48,200

Explanation:

Given:

Selling price of home = $140,000

Acquisition price = $45,000

Closing cost = $2,000

Cost of fireplace and family room = $35,000

Real estate commission = 0.07 × 140,000 = $9,800

Total adjusted basis  = 45,000 + 2,000 + 35,000 + 9,800

                                   = $91,800

Taxable gain = Selling price - adjusted basis

                      = 140,000 - 91,800

                      = $48,200
