A chemist has a container of 12% peroxide solution and a container of 20% peroxide solution. She needs to mix the two solutions

to create 100 mL of a 14% solution. If x represents the amount of 12% peroxide solution and y represents the amount of 20% peroxide solution she needs, which matrix equation can determine the amount of each solution she needs to make the 14% solution?

Since the total amount of the mixture is 100mL, thus, the sum of the amount of the 12% peroxide in the solution plu the sum of the 20% peroxide in the solution is 100mL.

Thus,

x+y=100

Also, since the resulting concentration of the mixture is 14% = 0.14.

Thus,

0.12x+0.2y=0.14

Therefore, the matrix equation that can be used to determine the amount of each solution needed is given by:

\left[\begin{array}{cc}1&1\\0.12&0.2\end{array}\right]   \left[\begin{array}{c}x\\y\end{array}\right] = \left[\begin{array}{c}100\\0.14\end{array}\right]

Answer:

\begin{bmatrix}1&1\\0.12 &0.2\end{bmatrix}\begin{bmatrix}x\\y\end{bmatrix}=\begin{bmatrix}100\\0.14\end{bmatrix}

Step-by-step explanation:

We are given that,

The amount of 12% peroxide solution = x and the amount of 20% peroxide solution = y.

Since, the total amount of the solution to be made is 100 ml. So, the equation is x+y=100

Also, the sum of the 12% solution and 20% of the solution is resulting in 14% solution. Then, the equation is 0.12x+0.2y=0.14

<h3>Thus, the system of equations is given by,</h3>

x+y=100\\\\0.12x+0.2y=0.14

<h3>Converting the system of equations to matrix form Ax=B, we get,</h3>

\begin{bmatrix}1&1\\0.12 &0.2\end{bmatrix}\begin{bmatrix}x\\y\end{bmatrix}=\begin{bmatrix}100\\0.14\end{bmatrix}

<span>The number of dollars collected can be modelled by both a linear model and an exponential model. To calculate the number of dollars to be calculated on the 6th day based on a linear model, we recall that the formula for the equation of a line is given by (y - y1) / (x - x1) = (y2 - y1) / (x2 - x1), where (x1, y1) = (1, 2) and (x2, y2) = (3, 8) The equation of the line representing the model = (y - 2) / (x - 1) = (8 - 2) / (3 - 1) = 6 / 2 = 3 y - 2 = 3(x - 1) = 3x - 3 y = 3x - 3 + 2 = 3x - 1 Therefore, the amount of dollars to be collected on the 6th day based on the linear model is given by y = 3(6) - 1 = 18 - 1 = $17 To calculate the number of dollars to be calculated on the 6th day based on an exponential model, we recall that the formula for exponential growth is given by y = ar^(x-1), where y is the number of dollars collected and x represent each collection day and a is the amount collected on the first day = $2. 8 = 2r^(3 - 1) = 2r^2 r^2 = 8/2 = 4 r = sqrt(4) = 2 Therefore, the amount of dollars to be collected on the 6th day based on the exponential model is given by y = 2(2)^(5 - 1) = 2(2)^4 = 2(16) = $32</span>

Solve for g.<br> −3+5+6g=11−3g
Nataly_w [17]

Answer:

g = 1

Step-by-step explanation:

-3 + 5 + 6g = 11 - 3g

2 + 6g = 11 - 3g

Add 3g to both sides.

2 + 9g = 11

Subtract 2 from both sides

9g = 9

g = 1
