Answer:

Option D, the mountain receives lake-effect snow.

Explanation:

Mount McKinley is the center of Denali and it is also the part of Alaskan Range of mountain peaks which is surrounded by low lands. This mountain has extreme weather variations which is entirely different from the areas of south central Alaska.

However the lake at the base reduces the rate of increase of temperature at the base of Denali. It is so because the angle at which the lake water contacts the Denali mountain , decreases the increase in temperature.

Hence, option D is correct

What would happen if you did not have the stapedius and tensor tympani muscles? A. The ear canal would stay permanently closed.
almond37 [142]

(D) is the correct option

Explanation:

 • Both the stapedius and tensor tympani are striated muscles
 • The stapedius is about 6 mm in length, arises from the pyramidal process and the tendon attaches to the posterior neck of the stapes
 • The stapedius is a muscle with a high oxidative capacity
 • The tensor tympani is about 25 mm in length, the muscle is not as strong as the stapedius, and the tendon also contains more elastic tissue and fat
 • The tensor tympani courses through a bony canal in the wall of the anterior middle ear, and attaches to the neck of the manubrium
 • The tensor tympani and stapedius muscles are protective reflexes
 • They reduce the amount of sound that gets into the inner ear
 • They are somewhat similar to the blink reflex thus they can be triggered by loud noise, and when they go off, both ears can be involved
 • If stapedius and tensor tympani muscles is not present then loud sounds would cause the ossicles to move too much, potentially causing damage to the inner ear

3. Three redwood trees are kept at different humidity levels inside a greenhouse for 12 weeks. One tree is left outside in normal conditions. The heights of the trees are measured once a week. What are the dependent variables, independent and the controlled variable of this experiment?

Answer:

 • Independent variable: different humidity levels
 • Dependent variable: the heights of the trees
 • controlled variable: the types of trees

Explanation:

An independent variable is one that exerts an influence within the experiment and can be measured, acting on other elements to promote the observation of a result. As the experiment seeks to observe the influence of humidity on the height of the tree, we can say that humidity is the independent variable.

Dependent variable is that which is influenced by the independent variable to generate a result that can be observed, can also be measured. As the experiment wishes to analyze how the height of the trees was affected by the level of humidity, we can say that the height of the trees is the dependent variable.

Controlled variable is that which is present in the experiment in a constant and equal way, cannot be measured. This variable is the type of trees.

I hope you meant, a cross between BbPp and BbPp, else for bbpp x bbpp, all the progeny will be bbpp.

We need to work out a Punnett square to determine the genotypes resulting from the cross between BbPp and BbPp. The dyhybrid cross results in 16 different genotypes, of which a few have the same phenotypes.

It can be seen that there are 4 different kinds of phenotypes present, in the ratio 9:3:3:1.
