Answer:

Steve joins Mr. Sawicki’s film club.

A robbery and murder are committed at the drug store.

Steve is arrested for murder.

Mr. Sawicki testifies at Steve’s trial.

Explanation:

Walter Dean Myers' "Monster" is about an African American teenager accused of murder. It is written interspersed with diary entries, screenplays and recollections. And though Steve is not found guilty, his innocence is still doubted by even his lawyer just because of his black race.

The protagonist of the story is Steve Harmon who happened to listen to a plan by two men, Richard Evans and James King. In the end, he was acquitted of the murder charge but not without any doubts about his involvement. Arranging the four sentences given in the questions in sequence of the events, the first sentence will be Steve joins Mr. Sawicki’s film club. Then followed by A robbery and murder are committed at the drug store. Steve is arrested for murder.Mr. Sawicki testifies at Steve’s trial.

Read the following passage from an analysis essay's body: Both Nathaniel Hawthorne's The Scarlet Letter and Herman Melville's Mo
Leya [2.2K]

Answer:

D). The passage fails to make a debatable claim.

Explanation:

The key weakness of the given passage is that 'it fails to establish a debatable claim.' A claim is characterized as debatable when the readers could reasonably argue on different opinions regarding it but here the 'claim regarding the presence of gothic elements' in Hawthorne's 'Scarlett Letter' and Herman Melville's 'Moby-D' is already agreed upon and accepted as a fact. Thus, there remains no point in persuading the readers' to believe in it by comparing the two. Another weakness of this passage is that the evidence presented here fails to support the claim. Thus, option D is the correct answer.

Read the student paragraph about a theme presented
kolezko [41]

Answer:

An explanation of evidence

Explanation:

When we're writing a paragraph (about the theme of a text, for example), we can use the PIE structure. Each of these letters stands for one part of the paragraph:

 • P - point - the main idea (the theme);
 • I - information/illustration - information that supports (illustrates) the point (like quotes in the given example);
 • E - explanation - explanation about how the illustration supports the point.

Based on the given information, we can see that the given paragraph doesn't contain the explanation. We have the theme and examples that illustrate it, but there is no explanation that connects them.
