The use of transitions is important in writing because they help to establish a connection between the different ideas of a paragraph. By establishing this connection the text becomes more organized; therefore, it allows the reader to understand in a better way the message that the writer is trying to convey. This connection that transitions create also add more fluency to the text and make it more coherent and cohesive.

Luda [366]
This publication contains two documents, the bishops' statement Sharing Catholic Social Teaching: Challenges and Directions and the Summary Report of the Task Force on Catholic Social Teaching and Catholic Education. The bishops' statement was developed by the Committee on Education, the Committee on Domestic Policy, and the Committee on International Policy, and it was approved by the bishops on June 19, 1998. It is a response to the report of the Task Force on Catholic Social Teaching and Catholic Education, which was created in 1995 by these three committees. The task force's summary report is included as an appendix to this publication. The bishops' statement reflects the action of the bishops, and the summary report is the work of the task force. These two documents are approved for publication by the undersigned.

Our community of faith is blessed with many gifts. Two of the most vital are our remarkable commitment to Catholic education and catechesis in all its forms and our rich tradition of Catholic social teaching. As we look to a new millennium, there is an urgent need to bring these two gifts together in a strengthened commitment to sharing our social teaching at every level of Catholic education and faith formation.

Which of the following adjectives best describe the setting of Salema, MA in Hawthorne's Young Goodman Brown?
lisov135 [29]

In Hawthorne's Young Goodman Brown, the hole story is set in Salem Village and its surroundings. Goodman Brown, the main character, starts saying farewell to his lovely wife Faith, for he must travel for one night only.

He takes the road into a gloomy forest and is afraid of everything or anyone scary and devilish he might find. Goodman Brown finds who he was searching for to dismiss himself because he wanted to return home for his wife sake and because he and his family has been Christians since long ago. The man tries to convince him that he knows very well his descendants and most of the villagers and important people.

Confused, ashamed and afraid to be seen associating with that man, he hides when someone approaches, which he recognizes as an old woman considered respected and religious by all. She identifies the man as the devil and herself as a witch on her way to the devil’s evil forest ceremony.

Goodman Brown saw and heard most of the villagers and other known people going to the ceremony, including his beloved wife. He finally returns home in the next morning refusing to trust or believe in anyone including his wife. Everybody he passes seems evil to him. It get to be unclear if all of it was real or just a dream, but the rest of his life was full of gloom and fear.

All of the story, scenarios and situations can only be described as "mysterious, cryptic, and gloomy" (letter A).
