Does fitness(as used in biology) and survival have the same meaning? Why or why not

Biology
1 answer:
puteri [66]4 years ago
8 0

NO, they are not the same. The fittest individual is not necessarily the strongest, fastest, or biggest.  Fitness also applies to the ability to find a mate and produce offspring. Survival is the form that an individual will leave the most copies of itself in the subsequent generations. Fitness does not include a measure of survival or lifespan. Fitness is measured by an organism's ability to survive and reproduce, which determines the size of its genetic contribution to the next generation.
