A(n) = -6 - 4(n - 1)

Where n = 4

a(4) = -6 - 4(4 - 1)
a(4) = -6 - 4(3)
a(4) = -6 - 12
a(4) = -18

Explain to me in words how you would find the slope of this line and explain answer
Andrews [41]
Answer:
7/3

Explanation:
The slope of the line is equal to the rise/run, or in other words, the number of units the line travels upwards over the number of units the line travels to the right.

We can identify the slope using any two points on the line. Here, we can use the two points that are marked on the picture. The second point is 7 units above the first and 3 units to the right of the first, so the slope of the line is equal to 7/3.

Another way to calculate the slope of the line is the use this formula:

(y2-y1)/(x2-x1)

The first point is at the coordinate (1,-4) and second point is at the coordinate (4,3). When we plug these two coordinates into the equation, we get this:

(y2-y1)/(x2-x1)
->(3-(-4))/(4-1)

When we simply the fraction, we would get 7/3 and that would give us the slope.

I hope this helps!

Find the polynomial of lowest degree with only real coefficients and having the given zeros. -7i and square root of 2
mario62 [17]

Answer:

x³ - (√2)x² + 49x - 49√2

Step-by-step explanation:

If one root is -7i, another root must be 7i.  You can't just have one root with i.  The other roos is √2, so there are 3 roots.

x = -7i       is one root,

   (x + 7i) = 0    is the factor

x = 7i       is one root

  (x - 7i) = 0     is the factor

x = √2      is one root

    (x - √2) = 0   is the factor

So the factors are...

(x + 7i)(x - 7i)(x - √2) = 0

Multiply these out to find the polynomial...

(x + 7i)(x - 7i) =  x² + 7i - 7i - 49i²

Which simplifies to

  x² - 49i²        since i² = -1 , we have

    x² - 49(-1)

      x² + 49

Now we have...

(x² + 49)(x - √2) = 0

Now foil this out...

 x²(x) - x²(-√2) + 49(x) + 49(-√2) = 0

     x³ + (√2)x² + 49x - 49√2
