Hi there.

10a - 35 = -8a + 1; get the variable to one side, so add 8 to both sides.

18a - 35 = 1; add 36 to both sides so we can isolate the variable.

18a = 36; divide both sides by 18 to solve for the variable.

a = 2

I hope this helps!

First start with combining and collecting like terms on different sides. So 10a+8a=35+1. 18a=36. Divide a=36/18. a=2.

What is the approximate area of the pizza
Dovator [93]
If you have several different sized pizzas, you can compare their areas. So the area of a pizza is the length of the crust (circumference) divided by two times the distance from the edge to the middle (radius). Mathematicians use a special number called pi to calculate the circumference of a circle.
