Information Given
-------------------------------------------------------
48 invitations were sent out.
4/5 of the invitation were sent out.

-------------------------------------------------------
Construct the equation and find 1 whole
-------------------------------------------------------
4/5 = 48 invitations
1/5 = 48 ÷ 4 = 12
5/5 = 12 x 5 = 60

If 4/5 of the total is 48, the total can be found by dividing it by 4 and multiplying it by 5:
48/4 = 12
12*5 = 60.

Please help ?!!! Solve the three equations in the table using any method of your choice. List the method you used.
KatRina [158]

Step-by-step explanation:

x =  \frac{ - b \frac{ + }{ - }  \sqrt{ {b}^{2} - 4ac } }{2a}

The quadratic formula is honestly the most straightforward way of solving here.

Your other options are completing the square (which is the same thing as the quadratic formula but it's good to know that method if you have to take Integral Calculus at some point) or maybe factoring by grouping if it's appropriate. But the quadratic formula will work for you in all three equations:

1) a=1, b=0, c=8

This reduces pretty quickly into x=8i,-8i due to the negative under the radical. (Actually we didn't even really need the formula here.)

2) a=-9, b=4, c=-10

This reduces into x=(-4+i√(344))/-18, (-4-i√(344))/-18 and doesn't go any further because 344 isn't a perfect square.

3) a=1, b=8, c=17

This reduces to x=(-4+i), (-4-i)

So those are the answers for each.

X−24≥9 solve for x, answer must be simplified
Alinara [238K]

Answer:

x is greater than or equal to 33.

Step-by-step explanation:

Solve it like a normal equation for x. Add 24 to both sides to isolate x. positive 24 and negative 24 cancel each other out. 24 plus 9 is 33. Therefore, x is greater than or equal to 33. Hope this helps!

Are 12/20 and 22/30 equivalent fractions? Why or why not?
jek_recluse [69]
Yes! It is equivalent because you are pretty much multiplying 12/20 by 10 which equals 22/30.
