Answer:

Explanation:

Assume you have 100 g of the stack gas. Calculate the mass of each species in this sample according their percentages.

mass of sulphur : 6% of 100 g = 6 g

mass of oxygen : 22% of 100 g = 22 g

mass of nitrogen : 72% of 100 g = 72 g

Now calculate the number of moles of each species

number of moles of sulphur : \frac{6g}{64.066g/mol} = 0.09365 mol

number of moles of oxygen: \frac{22g}{31.998g/mol} =0.6875 mol

number of moles of nitrogen: \frac{72g}{28.0134g/mol} =2.570 mol

Now to calculate the mol fraction of each we use the formula:

mol fraction of A = \frac{number of moels of A}{total number of moles available}

Therefore

mole fraction of sulphur = \frac{0.09365mol}{3.35115 mol} = 0.028

mole fraction of oxygen = \frac{0.6875mol}{3.35115 mol} = 0.205

mole fraction of nitrogen = \frac{2.570mol}{3.35115 mol} = 0.767

how many liters of O2 are needed to produce 5.62 g of SO2 in the following reaction? 4FeS2+11O2 ->2Fe2O3+8SO2
Liula [17]

8moles of SO_2 need 11mol O_2

  • 1mol need=11/8=1.4molO_2

Moles of sO_2

\\ \rm\hookrightarrow \dfrac{5.62}{64}=0.1

So

Moles of O_2

  • 1.4(0.1)=0.14mol

We know

  • 1mol at STP=22.4L
  • 1.4mol=0.14(22.4)=3.13L O_2

Name the following compound: HNO3 Hydrogen nitrate Hydrogen nitrite Nitric acid Nitrous acid
wariber [46]

The compound HNO3 is called nitric acid.

HNO3 is a covalent compound and  a strong acid which ionizes in water into H+ (proton) and NO3- (nitrate ion).

HNO3 (aq) ↔ H+(aq) + NO3-(aq)

Ans: HNO3 = Nitric Acid

[On a side note: Nitrous acid is HNO2]

Chemical reaction occurs when the chemical identity of the reactants is different from that of the products. A new substance for
nikdorinn [45]

Answer:

Explanation:

Exothermic: the surrounds feel warmer. A wood fire stove is a good example of an exothermic reaction. You can feel the heat on your hands. It's exothermic.

Endothermic is exactly the opposite. The reaction takes place, but the heat comes from the surroundings. When you touch something that goes through an endothermic reaction, it feels much cooler.

This reaction, just by definition is endothermic.

From a scientific viewpoint, why do many desert dwellers elect to wear white or light-colored garments
alexandr1967 [171]
Darker colors absorb sunlight more, so it will become hotter. Lighter colored clothes will better reflect sun so they will be less hot.

Hope that helped
