The distance is just the perimeter of the rectangle:

P = 2(411) + 2(475)
P = 822 + 950
P = 1772m

Answer:What is the first law of thermodynamics and how does it relate to energy use? The first law of thermodynamics states that energy is conserved in chemical processes. ... This amount of energy that must be lost to the surroundings for the process to occur is nature's heat tax, an unavoidable cut of every energy transaction.

Think about your displacement at three different times throughout your day and compare it with the distance you traveled.
Paul [167]

-- The first thing I do when I wake up is go STRAIGHT to the bathroom. Up to that time, my displacement is equal to distance I traveled from my bed.

-- Once I'm relaxed and back in my room, dithering around and getting dressed, the distance I've traveled since I woke up is growing and growing, but my displacement is staying pretty steady, because I'm still hanging right around my bed.

-- I walk to school, walk between classes, maybe run around the track a couple times, walk to the lunchroom and back to classes, then walk home. By dinner time, my distance traveled during the day might be 3 or 4 MILES, but my displacement is only one floor down from my bedroom to the kitchen.

-- After my homework is done, I slide back into my warm bed and turn out the light. My displacement for the day is now zero ! The straight-line distance from the place I started to the place I finished is zero.

a gym consists of a rectangular region with a semi-circle on each end. if the perimeter of the room is to be a 200 m running tra
Nikolay [14]

The dimensions of the rectangle are:

l = 50 m

b = 100/\pi m

What is a perimeter in math?

The perimeter is the length of the outline of a shape. To find the perimeter of a rectangle or square you have to add the lengths of all the four sides.

How do we find a perimeter of a rectangle?

The perimeter of a rectangle,denoted by P is given by the formula, P=2l+2b, where l is the length and b is the breadth of the rectangle.

Given:

As per the question:

Perimeter of the room is given as P = 200 m

The region is rectangular having a semicircle at each end.

Now,

Let 'l' be the length of the rectangle, 'b' be its breadth and 'r' be the radius of the semi-circle at each end.

Then, Area of the given rectangle, A = lb

Perimeter of the room, P is =\pi r+l+\pi r+l=2\pi r+2l=\pi b+2l

Therefore, \pi b+2l=200

b=(200-2l)/\pi

Now,

Area, A = l(200-2l)/\pi=(200l-2l^{2} )/\pi

Now, differentiate A w.r.t l:

Again differentiating w.r.t 'l', we get:

d^{2} A/dl^{2} =-4l/\pi< 0

Thus we get maximum are when dA/dl=0

Therefore,

(200-4l)/\pi=0

l = 50 m

Now, from

\pi b+2l=200

\pi b=200-2*50

b=100/\pi

r=b/2=50/\pi

A package is dropped from a helicopter moving upward at 15m/s. If the helicopter was 1000m above the ground when the package was
sveticcg [70]

Answer:

yi = Initial height of the helicopter

yf = final height of the helicopter

vyi = component of the initial vertical velocity of the helicopter

g = gravity constant (9.8m/s^2)

yf = yi + vyideltat - 1/2gt^2

0m = 1000m + (15m/2)deltat - 1/2(9.8m/s^2)t^2

-1000m = (15m/s)t - (-4.9m/s^2)t^2

Use the quadratic formula

4.8t^2 - 15t - 1000 = 0

t1 = 15.75s and t2 = -12.65

t2 is rejected, time can't be negative

Thus, it takes 15.75s before the package strikes the ground.
