I believe you want to solve for a so the first thing is to isolate it. Multiply both sides by 1/3 to leave a alone on the left. you have to do the same to the other side so you get 5/3 x1/3 which equals 5/9

Bob's age is 4 times greater than Susanne's age. Dakota is three years younger than Susanne. The sum of Bob's, Susanne's, and Da
Ratling [72]
Susanne is 16 years old.

b = Bob's age

s = Susanne's age

d = Dakota's age

Bob's age is 4 times greater than Susanne's age:

b = 4s

Dakota is three years younger than Susanne:

d = s - 3

The sum of Bob's, Susanne's, and Dakota's ages is 93:

b + s + d = 93

solve these equations:

b = 4s

d = s - 3

b + s + d = 93

and get:

b = 64 years

s = 16 years

(remember that s = Susanne)

d = 13 years

If two pounds of meat will serve 5 people how many pounds will be needed to serve 13 people
miv72 [106K]
The answer is 5.2 pounds of meat. To find this just divide the number of people by what the information you have about servings. 13/5=2.6(number of sets), then you multiply that by how many pounds are in each set. 2.6 sets* 2 pounds per set= 5.2 pounds.
I hope this helped!
