African art represents the uses and customs of the African tribes. The art object is functional and express a lot of sensitivity. Representing a disguise and symbolizing the incorporation of spirits and the possibility of acquiring magical forces, masks have a mystical and important significance in African art and are used in rituals and funerals. Masks are made of clay, ivory, metals, but the most used material is wood. To establish purification and connection with the sacred entity, they are secretly modeled in the jungle.
