Fill a small bowl with 1-2 inches of water. Take a sewing needle and place it on a tissue paper. Place the tissue paper with the needle on the water in the flat dish. Let the tissue sink to the bottom of the bowl and record your observations of the needle.

The sewing needle should float in the water if placed on a horizontal angle if I remember properly.
