The current method of counting a country's population by requiring every household to complete a census form once every 10 years

has been severely criticized as inaccurate. The undercounting produces a geographic bias because people who are missed are more likely to live in inner cities, remote rural areas, or communities that attract a relatively high number of recent immigrants. Given the availability of reliable statistical tests, should the current method of trying to count 100 percent of the population be replaced by a survey of a carefully drawn sample of the population, as is done with political polling and consumer preferences? Why or why not?

Answer:

It should not be replaced, Census should still be conducted

Step-by-step explanation:

A population census is a total count of the country’s population, where demographic, social and economic information, as well as information about the housing conditions of the people who live in is gathered. It is often conducted every 10 years, Data from census covers a whole range of population than sampling and it's more representing.

Census help to know the population growth rate of a particular population and be able to forecast how much they would have added in coming years in order to plan ahead for it, taking sample will not accurately provide this information. There are limitations even in sampling taking so the best way is to look for ways of tackling those limitations highlighted about conducting census so we can have a more reliable and well informed Census data.

Technology has so much advanced in this present time that every area can be well delineated, proper training of enumerators, adequate information for citizens and a well coordinated program would help improve accessibility of people and thereby improving Census data do that decisions to be made from it can be more representing of all and sundry.
