What is the equation of the following graph in vertex form? Courtesy of Texas Instruments A. y = (x − 4)2 − 4 B. y = (x + 4)2 −
Shtirlitz [24]

Answer:

A: y = (x − 4)^2 − 4

Step-by-step explanation:

vertex=(4.-4)

A: y = (x − 4)^2 − 4

y=x^2-8x+16-4

y=x^2-8x+12 (a=1,b=-8,c=12)

the y intercept is (0,12)

vertex ( h, k)

h=-b/2a ⇒ h=-(-8)/2=4

plug the value of h in the equation y=x^2-8x+12

k=4²-8(4)+12

k=16-32+12

k=-4

v(4,-4)

Please help! Looking for the solution for the picture below
zhenek [66]
Answer: (A - B)' = {1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10,12, 13}

Explanation:

The roster form of a set is the elements listed inside brackets { }.

In this case it is easy to visualize A - B directly of the Venn diagram: when you subtract from A those elements that are also in B, the result is A - B = {4, 11, 14}.

Now take into account tha (A - B)' is the complement of (A - B), this is all the elements that are not in A - B.

Being A - B = {4, 11, 14} then to show (A - B)' you just have to list all the elements that are on the figure except 4, 11 and 14.

The result, in roster form, is (A - B)' = {1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12, 13}

Aubrey is making cone-shaped hats for a birthday party. She mistakenly thinks that she will need about 104 square inches of pape
jenyasd209 [6]

Answer:

C. About 75 in²; Aubrey found the surface area of the cone and included the base.

Step-by-step explanation:

In the questions above we were given the following:

Cone with

Diameter(D) = 6 inches

Slant height (l) = 8 inches.

Aubrey made an error in her calculation.

She found the Total Surface area of the cone using the formula:

Total Surface Area of a cone = πrl + πr²

= πr(l + r)

The Total surface area of a cone is the calculated as Sum of the curved surface area of a cone and the base of the cone.

Where:

Curved surface area of the cone is calculated as = πrl

Base of a cone is calculated as = πr²

Where r = radius of the cone

l = slant height of the cone

In the question, we were given

slant height(l) = 8 inches.

radius = Diameter ÷ 2 = 6÷2 = 3 inches.

Using π = 3.14

Surface area = 3.14 × 3(8+3)

= 9.42 × 11

Surface area = 103.62 in²

Approximately to the nearest inch = 104 in² or 104 square inches.

But this answer is WRONG.

The RIGHT FORMULA Aubrey should have used is

Curved Surface Area or the Lateral Area of a Cone = πrL

slant height(l) = 8 inches.

radius = Diameter ÷ 2 = 6÷2 = 3 inches.

Using π = 3.14

Curved Surface Area of a Cone = πrL

= 3.14 × 3 inches × 8 inches

= 75.36 square inches or 75.36in²

Approximately to the nearest inch = 75 square inches or 75 in².

This is the correct answer.

The error Aubrey made was she calculated the Total surface area of the cone which includes the base of the cone instead of calculating the curved surface area of the cone only.

Hence, from the above calculation , we can see that Option C "About 75 in²; Aubrey found the surface area of the cone and included the base" is the correct option.

If SU and VX are parallel lines and mUTW = 131°, what is mVWT?
TiliK225 [7]

Answer:

∠VWT = 131°

Explanation:

∠VWT is equal to ∠UTW because they are Alternate inner angles. Since they are equal, we know that the measure of ∠VWT is 131°.

If n is a positive integer, how many 5-tuples of integers from 1 through n can be formed in which the elements of the 5-tuple ar
sleet_krkn [62]

This question is incomplete, the complete question is;

If n is a positive integer, how many 5-tuples of integers from 1 through n can be formed in which the elements of the 5-tuple are written in increasing order but are not necessarily distinct.

In other words, how many 5-tuples of integers ( h, i , j , m ), are there with n ≥ h ≥ i ≥ j ≥ k ≥ m ≥ 1 ?

Answer:

the number of 5-tuples of integers from 1 through n that can be formed is [ n( n+1 ) ( n+2 ) ( n+3 ) ( n+4 ) ] / 120

Step-by-step explanation:

Given the data in the question;

Any quintuple ( h, i , j , m ), with n ≥ h ≥ i ≥ j ≥ k ≥ m ≥ 1

this can be represented as a string of ( n-1 ) vertical bars and 5 crosses.

So the positions of the crosses will indicate which 5 integers from 1 to n are indicated in the n-tuple'

Hence, the number of such quintuple is the same as the number of strings of ( n-1 ) vertical bars and 5 crosses such as;

\left[\begin{array}{ccccc}5&+&n&-&1\\&&5\\\end{array}\right] = \left[\begin{array}{ccc}n&+&4\\&5&\\\end{array}\right]

= [( n + 4 )! ] / [ 5!( n + 4 - 5 )! ]

= [( n + 4 )!] / [ 5!( n-1 )! ]

= [ n( n+1 ) ( n+2 ) ( n+3 ) ( n+4 ) ] / 120

Therefore, the number of 5-tuples of integers from 1 through n that can be formed is [ n( n+1 ) ( n+2 ) ( n+3 ) ( n+4 ) ] / 120
