Both the essays/ short story of Mark Twain's "The Danger of Lying in Bed" and Gilbert Keith Chesterton's "The Fallacy of Success" have a satirical as well as a conversational tone in them.

Twain's essay makes a comprehensive built up in his story about a man buying a train ticket for protection in case an accident happens. Here, he deals with the gullible nature of man in accepting anything without having in-depth knowledge about it. His use of the conversational pattern between the man and the narrator gives the perfect lot for the story.

Likewise, G.K. Chesterton's piece deals with the fake or false claims of the self- help books that everyone seems to be patronizing. These so-called self improvement guides are incomprehensible, and that they promote snobbery and materialism in the individual.
