It is false. Before the advent of OSHA, there wasn’t a cohesive system of separate rules that effectively governed the American workplace. These rules also didn’t combine under the umbrella of OSHA.

EXPLANATION

OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) is the first agency of the United States Department of Labor. OSHA’s goal is to assure healthy and safe working conditions for both men and women workers by enforcing and setting standards, providing training, education, outreach, and assistance. April 28, 1971, was the time when OSHA officially formed. Before that time, there was no rules or regulation which regulate and control the American workplace. This resulted in many injuries, deaths, and accidents in the workplace.

OSHA has rights and regulations for the employee, employers, workers, and temporary workers. For employers, they have to:

• Acknowledge workers about chemical hazard

• Give safety training to workers

• Perform tests in the workplace

• Make accurate records of injuries and illnesses that happen in the workplace

• Provide medical tests for the workers

• Not discriminate against worker, and many more.

While for the workers, they have rights to:

• Work in a healthy condition so that doesn’t pose a risk of serious injuries

• Receive copies of injuries record in that workplace

• Receive copies of workplace medical records

• Report to the OSHA if there is discrimination or retaliation happens in the workplace

• Join in an OSHA inspection
