PLEASE HELP I REALLY NEED IT
Aleonysh [2.5K]

Answer:

9. Force is required to change an object velocity.Force is equal to mass times acceleration.

10.  Force acting on object are paired with equal and opposite forces

Step-by-step explanation:

9.

Newton's 2nd law states that force is a product of mass and acceleration.In this case, the force of friction is causing deceleration of the ball.This is an example of rolling friction.Acceleration of the ball depends directly on this friction but indirectly on its mass.

10.

From Newton's 3rd Law ,for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction.The astronaut throwing the ball will experience the effect of an external force againts his own which is equal  and  in the opposite direction to the force she applied.This is why the astronaut moves backward but slower.

There are 32 students in a class. Of the class, 3/8 of the students bring their own lunches. How many students bring their lunch
OverLord2011 [107]

Answer:

The number of students that bring their lunches is 12

Step-by-step explanation:

Let

x -----> the number of students that bring their lunches

y -----> the total number of students in a class

we know that

The number of students that bring their lunches divided by  the total number of students in a class must be equal to 3/8

\frac{x}{y}=\frac{3}{8}

x=\frac{3}{8}y  -----> equation A

y=32 -----> equation B

substitute the value of y in equation A and solve for x

x=\frac{3}{8}(32)

x=12

therefore

The number of students that bring their lunches is 12

Suppose the correlation between height and weight for adults is +0.40. What proportion (or percent) of the variability in weight
Schach [20]

Answer:

We are given the correlation between height and weight for adults is 0.40.

We need to find the proportion of the variability in weight that can be explained by the relationship with height.

We know that coefficient of determination or R-square measures the proportion or percent of variability in dependent variable that can be explained by the relationship with independent  variable. There the coefficient of determination is given below:

R^{2}=r^{2}=0.40^{2}=0.16

Therefore, the 0.16 or 16% of the variability in weight can be explained by the relationship with height

The owner of a small pet supply store wants to open a second store in another city, but he only wants to do so if more than one-
Andrei [34K]

Answer:

The answer is "The null hypothesis was rejected".

Step-by-step explanation:

Following are the right-tailed test:

Calculating the null and alternative hypothesis:

H_0 : p = 0.3333\\\\H_a : p > 0.3333\\\\n = 150\\\\x = 64\\\\\hat{p} = \frac{x}{n} = \frac{64}{150} = 0.4267\\\\P_0 = 0.3333\\\\1 - P_0 = 1 - 0.3333 = 0.6667\\\\

z = \frac{\hat{p} - P_0}{[\sqrt{\frac{P_0 \times (1 - P_0 )}{n}}]}

   = \frac{0.4267 - 0.3333}{[\sqrt{\frac{(0.3333 \times 0.6667)}{150}}]}\\\\= 2.426

Calculating the right-tailed test:

P(z > 2.426) = 1 - P(z < 2.426) = 1 - 0.9924 = 0.0076\\\\P-value = 0.0076\\\\\alpha = 0.05\\\\P-value < \alpha

Therefore, we reject the null hypothesis.

This example shows that more than a third of the families own pets in this town.
