We have been given a graph of the function f(x). Now question says to sketch the following functons

Answer 3.a):

f(x+2)

we know that f(x+h) shifts the graph h units left.

So f(x+2) will shift the graph 2 units left.

Answer 3.b):

f(x-5)

we know that f(x-h) shifts the graph h units right.

So f(x-5) will shift the graph 5 units right.

Answer 3.c):

f(x)+2

we know that f(x)+h shifts the graph h units up.

So f(x)+2 will shift the graph 2 units up.

Answer 3.d):

f(x)-5

we know that f(x)-h shifts the graph h units down.

So f(x)-5 will shift the graph 5 units down.

Check attached picture for the graph of each part.

In a certain year, brand A of heart-rate watch cost $39.99 and brand B cost $59.99. A nonprofit community health organizatio
Oksi-84 [34.3K]

Answer:

Brand A = 21 heart-rate watches.

Brand B = 13 heart-rate watches.

Step-by-step explanation:

Let A be the number of Brand A heart watches and B be the number of Brand B heart watches.

We have been given that a nonprofit community health organization purchased 34 heart-rate watches for use at a wellness center.

We can represent this information in an equation as:

A+B=34...(1)

We have been given that in a certain year, brand A of heart-rate watch cost $39.99 and brand B cost $59.99 and the organization spent $1619.66 for the watches.

We can represent this information in an equation as:

39.99*A+59.99*B=1619.66...(2)

We will use substitution method to solve our system of equations.

From equation (1) we will get,

A=34-B

Substituting A=34-B in equation(2) we will get,

39.99*(34-B)+59.99*B=1619.66

1359.66-39.99*B+59.99*B=1619.66

-39.99*B+59.99*B=1619.66-1359.66

20*B=260

B=\frac{260}{20}

B=13

Therefore, the organisation purchased 13 heart-rate watches of brand B.

Now let us substitute B=13 in equation (1).

A+13=34

A+13-13=34-13

A=21

Therefore, the organisation purchased 21 heart-rate watches of brand A.

Jason purchased a pack of game cards that was on sale for 13% off. The sales tax in his county is 8%. Let y represent the origin
Ede4ka [16]

Answer: C. 0.08(0.87y)

Step-by-step explanation:

Because in the price 87% of the price per game and but it always ends with a sales tax of 8%. I.E. 0.08(0.87[3]) is the price of 3 games. Because the price of 1 game is 87% of the times 8% of the tax of his county. This shows that even Jason has 1 game or 5 games the sales tax is the same out of the percentage of the whole price.

Katyanochek1 [597]

Answer:

(a) X(t)=X(0)+\Delta X*t=5-0.5*t

(b) X(t)=X(0)+\Delta X*t=1+0.5*t

(c) At 4 weeks, when both will be seeing an average of 3 hours of TV.

Step-by-step explanation:

a) For the students, they start at X(0)=5 h and ΔX=-0.5 h/week.

We can write

X(t)=X(0)+\Delta X*t=5-0.5*t

b) For the professors, they start at X(0)=1 h and ΔX=+0.5 h/week.

We can write

X(t)=X(0)+\Delta X*t=1+0.5*t

c) The seew which they will be watching the same amount of hours will be the 4th week.

X(t)=5-0.5*t=1+0.5*t\\\\5-1=(0.5+0.5)*t\\\\t=4\, weeks

The amount of hours will be

x(4)=1+0.5*4=1+2=3\,hours
