Answer:

A loop of wire installed at an intersection can be used to trigger a traffic signal.

Explanation:

Electromagnetic induction has an application in the field of vehicle detection. It can be used to detect vehicles crossing a point, like a traffic signal. Detection is achieved by placing an electrically conducting well insulated loop at the required point.

Alternating currents of appropriate frequency are passed through the loop and the system becomes a tuned electrical circuit. Passage of a vehicle through the loop increases its inductance. This change is due to the ferrous components of the vehicle.

The vehicle being a metallic body causes eddy currents to develop within the loop. This brings a decrease in the inductance of the loop. Increase in inductance when compared with the decrease is visibly great.

This produces an overall decrease in inductance of the loop which reduces the impedance of the circuit to alternating current. This triggers the development of a pulse to traffic signal controller indicating the passage of a vehicle.

A man walks 7 km, east in 2 hours and 2 km in 1 hour in the same direction. a) what is
Rzqust [24]

Explanation:

Average speed = distance / time

|v| = (7 km + 2 km) / (2 hr + 1 hr)

|v| = 3 km/hr

Average velocity = displacement / time

v = (7 km east + 2 km east) / (2 hr + 1 hr)

v = 3 km/hr east

Evgesh-ka [11]

Answer:

a) > x<-c(1,2,3,4,5)

> y<-c(1.9,3.5,3.7,5.1,6)

> linearmodel<-lm(y~x)

And the output is given by:

> linearmodel

Call:

lm(formula = y ~ x)

Coefficients:

(Intercept)            x

      1.10         0.98

b) y = 0.98 x +1.10

And if we compare this with the general model y = mx +b

We see that the slope is m= 0.98 and the intercept b = 1.10

Explanation:

Part a

For this case we have the following data:

x: 1,2,3,4,5

y: 1.9,3.5,3.7,5.1, 6

For this case we can use the following R code:

> x<-c(1,2,3,4,5)

> y<-c(1.9,3.5,3.7,5.1,6)

> linearmodel<-lm(y~x)

And the output is given by:

> linearmodel

Call:

lm(formula = y ~ x)

Coefficients:

(Intercept)            x

      1.10         0.98

Part b

For this case we have the following trend equation given:

y = 0.98 x +1.10

And if we compare this with the general model y = mx +b

We see that the slope is m= 0.98 and the intercept b = 1.10

Part A
cupoosta [38]

Answer:

A) U₀ = ϵ₀AV²/2d

B) U₁ = (ϵ₀AV²)/6d

This means that the new energy of the capacitor is (1/3) of the initial energy before the increased separation.

C) U₂ = (kϵ₀AV²)/2d

Explanation:

A) The energy stored in a capacitor is given by (1/2) (CV²)

Energy in the capacitor initially

U₀ = CV²/2

V = voltage across the plates of the capacitor

C = capacitance of the capacitor

But the capacitance of a capacitor depends on the geometry of the capacitor is given by

C = ϵA/d

ϵ = Absolute permissivity of the dielectric material

ϵ = kϵ₀

where k = dielectric constant

ϵ₀ = permissivity of free space/air/vacuum

A = Cross sectional Area of the capacitor

d = separation between the capacitor

If air/vacuum/free space are the dielectric constants,

So, k = 1 and ϵ = ϵ₀

U₀ = CV²/2

Substituting for C

U₀ = ϵ₀AV²/2d

B) Now, for U₁, the new distance between plates, d₁ = 3d

U₁ = ϵ₀AV²/2d₁

U₁ = ϵ₀AV²/(2(3d))

U₁ = (ϵ₀AV²)/6d

This means that the new energy of the capacitor is (1/3) of the initial energy before the increased separation.

C) U₂ = CV²/2

Substituting for C

U₂ = ϵAV²/2d

The dielectric material has a dielectric constant of k

ϵ = kϵ₀

U₂ = (kϵ₀AV²)/2d
