<u>Answer:</u>

<em>A loop of wire installed at an intersection can be used to trigger a traffic signal. </em>

<u>Explanation:</u>

Electromagnetic induction has an application in the field of vehicle detection. It can be used to detect vehicles crossing a point, like a traffic signal. Detection is achieved by placing an electrically conducting well insulated loop at the required point.

Alternating currents of appropriate frequency are passed through the loop and the system becomes a tuned electrical circuit. Passage of a vehicle through the loop increases its inductance. This change is due to the ferrous components of the vehicle.

The vehicle being a metallic body causes eddy currents to develop within the loop. This brings a decrease  in  the inductance of the loop. Increase in inductance when compared with the decrease is visibly great.

This produces an overall decrease in inductance of the loop which reduces the impedance of the circuit to alternating current. This triggers the development of a pulse to traffic signal controller indicating the passage of  a vehicle.

Red Sox designated hitter, David Ortiz, swings at a 0.15 kg baseball and accelerates it at a rate of 3.0 • 10^4 m/s^2. How much
aivan3 [116]

Answer:

Explanation:

A lot.  That's why he was one of Boston's star hitters.

m = 0.15 kg

a = 3.0 * 10^4

F = ?

F = 0.15 * 3*10^4

F = 0.45 * 10^4

F = 4.5 * 10^3 Newtons

You should always express scientific notation as a number between 1 and 10 or 1 < x < 10. The power will determine the exact value of the number expressed as a scientific notation.

The electric potential in a volume of space is given by V(x, y, z) = 2x2 - 3y2 + 5z.
vekshin1

The electric field at (x,y,z) its equal to the negative of the gradient if the electric potential.

We have

V(x, y, z) = 2x² - 3y² + 5z

so

E(x, y, z) = -grad(V) = -(dV/dx i + dV/dy j + dV/dz k)

where d/d(variable) is meant to be a partial derivative with respect to that variable. The partial derivatives are

dV/dx = 4x

dV/dy = -6y

dV/dz = 5

and so the electric field at any point is

E(x, y, z) = -4x i + 6y j - 5k

and at (3, 4, 5) it is

E(3, 4, 5) = -12i + 24j - 5k

Why is the weight of a body more at the pole than at the equator of the earth ??
Yuki888 [10]
  • At pole the gravitation is more than that of equator .

And according to newtons second law

Force=Mass×Acceleration

And

\\ \sf\longmapsto F\propto a

  • Hence force varies directly with acceleration hence weight will be more .

If v lies in the first quadrant and makes an angle Ï/3 with the positive x-axis and |v| = 4, find v in component form.
Alexeev081 [22]

Answer:

v=

Explanation:

We are given that

Magnitude of vector v=\mid v\mid =4

v lies in the first quadrant

\theta=\frac{\pi}{3}

v_x=\mid v\mid cos\theta

v_y=\mid v\mid sin\theta

Substitute the values then we get

v_x=4cos\frac{\pi}{3}

v_x=4\times \frac{1}{2}=2

cos\frac{\pi}{3}=\frac{1}{2}

v_y=4\times sin\frac{\pi}{3}=4\times \frac{\sqrt 3}{2}=2\sqrt 3

sin\frac{\pi}{3}=\frac{\sqrt 3}{2}

Therefore, the vector v in component form=

v=
