When subtrating you need to have the same denominators 1/6=2/12 7/12 - 2/12= 5/12 left

Ok so to find the eggs left we need to subtract but with fractions, you need a common denominator. You can multiply 1/6 by 2 because 6·2=12 which will be the same denominator as 7/12. You must multiply the numerator by 2 as well so 1/6· 2/2= 2/12. Now subtract 7/12 - 2/12 and you have 5/12 eggs left. :)

subset to real numbers, and as you can see are not at all connected to the rest of numbers (and integers).
Natali5045456 [20]

Irrational numbers are the subset of real numbers that are not at all connected to the rest of numbers.

The subsets of real numbers are natural numbers, whole numbers, integers, rational numbers and irrational numbers.

Natural numbers are subset of whole numbers, which are subset of integers, which are subset of rational numbers. Hence, all of them are interconnected. The set of irrational numbers is the only subset of real numbers which is not associated with the rest.

For example:-

1 is a natural number, whole number, integer, rational number but not irrational number. On the other hand, \sqrt{2} is an irrational number but none of the rest.

Benito wrote the equations shown about the figure. Explain Benito’s errors.
Minchanka [31]

Answer:

  • Benito's error was using the equal sign (=) instead of the congruency symbol (≅).

Explanation:

Benito's error was using the equal sign (=) instead of the congruency symbol (≅).

The congruency symbol (≅) means that the elements (segments, angles or figures in general) have the same measure, i.e. they have equal lengths for the segments or equal measure for the angles.

For instance, it is an error saying that the segment AB is equal to the segment BC because, as you clearly see in the picture, they are not same; they have the same length but they are joining different points, that makes them different in essence, although they have the same length. They would be equal only if they are the same figure.

In mathematics, you must not say that two different segments or two different angles are equal but they are congruent, which means that their lengths are equal. The use of equal is reserved for numbers and variables, not for figures like segment, points, angles, polygons.

Determine if the triangles, ΔUVW and ΔBAC, are similar. If so, identify the similarity criterion.
alexandr402 [8]

Answer:

B). SAS similarity.

Step-by-step explanation:

In Δ WVU & ΔCAB,

UV/CA = 17/34 = 1/2

&

VW/AB = 14/28 = 1/2

∵ UV/CA = VW/AB = 1/2

& ∠V = ∠A (Given)

∵ ΔWVU ≅  ΔCAB   (by SAS similarity)

1..A message in a bottle is floating on top of the ocean in a periodic manner. The time between periods of maximum heights is 26
statuscvo [17]

Answer:

See below for answers and explanations (along with a graph attached)

Step-by-step explanation:

<u>Part A</u>

The amplitude of a sinusoidal function is half the distance between the maximum and the minimum. It is given to us that the distance from the highest and lowest point is 6 feet, so our amplitude is 6/2 = 3 feet

<u>Part B</u>

The graph's function would be in the form of y=acos(bx+c)+d where a is the amplitude, \frac{2\pi}{b} is the period, -\frac{c}{b} is the phase/horizontal shift, and d is the average/midline.

We already know our amplitude of a=3 from part A.

Since our period is given to us as 26 seconds, then we can use the equation \frac{2\pi}{b}=26 to find b, which happens to be b=\frac{\pi}{13}.

Since the cosine function starts at its maximum and we want it to start at the average where the bottle travels up, we would need to use the cofunction identity sin(x)=cos(x-\frac{\pi}{2}) which shifts the cosine graph \frac{\pi}{2} units to the right. This means that c=-\frac{\pi}{2}, making our phase shift -\frac{c}{b}=-\frac{-\frac{\pi}{2}}{\frac{\pi}{13}}=6.5, or 6.5 feet to the right

Our average/midline would be d=12 as given as the average height by the problem.

Therefore, the function is f(x)=3cos(\frac{\pi}{13}x-\frac{\pi}{2})+12

<u>Part C</u>

Using our determined function from Part B, by looking at its graph, we see that the bottle will reach its lowest height of 9 feet after 19.5 seconds (see attached graph).
