How could people prevent the rainwater from running down the steep mountain side so that it could be used for agriculture
valentina_108 [34]
<span>When it rains in the mountains it causes flashfloods so it is unsafe to go camping in low ground or mountainside until the rains are over. The water is collected using dams. The rest either forms temporary small lakes or is absorbed by the porous sand into ground water table, people traditionally dug wells to get to that water (for farms they will set-up a mill-type contraption to get the water out continuously for irrigation). The rest (above ground) evaporates.

The Virginia Senate was created in the Southern Colonies as the political system and led to closer ties to England
gizmo_the_mogwai [7]

Answer: The social life was plantations ( slavery), mansions, indentured servants, few cities, and few schools, and the Church of England. The political and civic life in the Southern colonies were countries. The Economy In the Southern Colonies depended on cash crops like this picture of tobacco. Settlers in the Southern colonies came to America to seek economic prosperity they could not find in Old England. The English countryside provided a grand existence of stately manors and high living.Politics was controlled largely by the wealthy plantation owners. Each Southern colony had a governor appointed by the English sponsor of that colony (whether trading company or crown colony). There would also be an assembly (like Congress) to represent the people of the colony.Royal Government: The Royal Colonies were ruled directly by the English monarchy. Propriety Government: The King granted land to people in North America, who then formed Proprietary Colonies.
