Plessy v. Ferguson was a court case that ruled that racial segregation in schools was constitutional, as long as it remained "separate but equal." However, the educational opportunities for African Americans still remained unequal.

Brown v. Board of Education later overturned the "separate but equal" doctrine, and this lead to the end of racial segregation in places of Education.
