What is the mass of sodium (Na) in 50 grams of table salt (NaCl)? Show your work.
beks73 [17]

Answer:

The amount of sodium in this sample = 32.4 grams

Explanation:

Mass of Sodium = 23 g/mol

Mass of Chlorine = 35.5 g/mol

Mass of NaCl = 35.5 g/mol

Fraction of Na in NaCl = \frac{23}{35.5}

                                      =0.648

We are given a sample of 50 grams of sodium chloride.

The amount of sodium in this sample = Amount of sodium in 1 gram sample \times weight of sample

The amount of sodium in this sample = 0.648 \times 50

The amount of sodium in this sample = 32.4 grams

A student mixed several different 12 mm plastic beads together by mistake. Luckily the beads had different densities. One group
Gala2k [10]

Answer:

The answer is "Each student will get a glass of water and drop the bead into it  but the beads float 0.6 g / cm3 and slip down to 1.2 g / cm3

".

Explanation:

One's masses would've been dissimilar, even though their width and concentrations were also equal. Whenever the type-A mass is m,  then the type-B mass is 2 m. One should measure then, therefore.

Water has a 1g / cm^3 density. Although Type A is higher than air, Type B is much more compact. it means will float if they place  it in water type-A where type-B sinks.

Explain in writing how ionic bonds work using Sodium Chloride as an<br> example.
Alisiya [41]
The goal of an element is to obtain a noble gas configuration (obtaining a full valence shell). Therefore, certain elements will either gain or lose electrons in order to obtain this full valence shell. In the case of sodium chloride, it is easy for sodium (having one valence electron) to give up its one electron. Chlorine (having seven valence electrons) wants sodium’s electron because it completes its outer shell and chlorine obtains this noble gas configuration. Ionic bonds always involve a transfer of electrons.
