How are the electron configurations of element beyond argon determined

Chemistry

The same way that ones before argon are determined. Find the noble gas before the element you are doing. This becomes your base for the electron configuration so you can start counting from that element number. Remember the subshells 1s 2s 2p 3s 3p 4s 3d 4p etc s=2, p=6, d=10, f=14 ......so just keep writing till you reach the number of the element. So eg Selenium (Se) would be- 1s(2) 2s(2) 2p(6) 3s(2) 3p(6) 4s(2) 3d(10) 4p(4) . All the numbers in the brackets add up to Selenium's Atomic number. A shorter way of writing it would be [Ar] 4s(2) 3d(10) 4p(4) as Arsenic is already at 18

You prepare a solution by dissolving 3.9280 g of solid sodium hydroxide in 300 mL of distilled water in a 500 mL volumetric flas
Sindrei [870]

Answer:

0.196 M

Explanation:

First, we have to calculate the moles of sodium hydroxide.

moles = mass / molar mass

moles = 3.9280 g / (39.997 g/mol) = 0.098207 mol

It is important to realize that even though 300 mL is the volume of water firstly added to dissolve the hydroxide, the flask is then filled to the mark, meaning that the volume of the solution is 500 mL = 0.500 L.

The molar concentration of sodium hydroxide is:

M=\frac{n_{solute}}{V_{solution}(L)} =\frac{0.098207 mol}{0.500L} =0.196 M

The concentration is an intensive property, that is, it does not depend on the amount of matter. As a consequence, the concentration of the 50 mL of solution in the buret is the same as the concentration in the flask.

A chemist reacts H2 with excess N2. The reaction yields 60 grams of NH3. however, you calculaye you should have recovered 80 gra
Finger [1]

Answer:

Percent yield = 75%

Explanation:

Given data:

Actual yield of ammonia = 60 g

Theoretical yield of ammonia = 80 g

Percent yield = ?

Solution:

Percent yield is calculated dividing the actual yield by theoretical yield and multiply by 100.

Formula:

Percent yield = Actual yield / Theoretical yield × 100

Now we will put the values in formula.

Percent yield = 60 g/ 80 g × 100

Percent yield = 0.75 × 100

Percent yield = 75%

So if the reaction yield is 60 g and calculated yield ( theoretical yield) is 80 g then the percent yield would be 75%.

With respect to a fixed point, motion is defined as a change in-

A)speed
B)position
Arisa [49]

Answer:

With respect to a fixed point, motion is defined as a change in position.

Explanation:

MOTION -: Motion is described as the fact in which any object or body changes its position over the time with respect to a fixed point .

Motion is defined as displacement, distance, velocity , acceleration, speed , and time in mathematical terms. By linking an observer to a frame of reference and measuring the shift in the position of the body with a change in time relative to that frame, the motion of a body is observed.
