620/11 =56.36 is 620 divide by 11 11 goes into 62 5 times so now 62-55=7 you drop down the zero so now 11 goes into 70 6 times 70-66=4 any zero's that are made up and placed in the equation goes behind the decimal point and 11 goes in 40 33 times 40-33=7 which makes 70 once you move the zero down and 70-66=4 and therefore the process would continue.

What is the explict rule for the sequence 12,22,32,42
icang [17]

The explicit rule for given sequence is:

a_n=2+10n

Further explanation:

We have to determine first of all if the sequence is arithmetic or geometric.

  • If the difference of two consecutive terms is same then the sequence is arithmetic sequence
  • If the ratio of two consecutive terms is same then the sequence is geometric sequence

Given sequence is:

12,22,32,42

a_1=12\\a_2=22\\a_3=32\\.......\\Let\\d=Common\ difference\\d=a_2-a_1=22-12=10\\d=a_3-a_2=32-22=10

The common difference is 10 which is same for all consecutive terms. So the sequence is an arithmetic sequence.

The general formula for arithmetic sequence is:

a_n=a_1+(n-1)d\\Here,\\a_n\ is\ the\ nth\ term\\a_1\ is\ the\ first\ term\\d\ is\ the\ common\ difference

Putting the values of a1 and d

a_n= 12+(n-1)(10)\\a_n=12+10n-10\\a_n=2+10n

The explicit rule for given sequence is:

a_n=2+10n

Keywords: Arithmetic sequence, Common Difference

The figure above shows a square inscribed in a rectangle.
Debora [2.8K]

Answer:

31 units ²

Step-by-step explanation:

Area of a rectangle = length × width

Length = 8 units

Width = 5 units

Area of a rectangle = length × width

= 8 units × 5 units

= 40 units ²

Area of of the blue square = length ²

Length = 3 units

Area of of the blue square = length ²

= (3 units) ²

= 9 units ²

Area of the orange colored part of the figure = Area of a rectangle - Area of of the blue square

= 40 units ² - 9 units ²

= 31 units ²

Area of the orange colored part of the figure = 31 units ²
