There would be 25 people in the line.
There are 6 people between jane and ken
k - - - - - - j
there are 18 people ahead of jane including ken
- - - - - - - - - - -k - - - - - - j
and 13 people behind ken including jane
- - - - - - - - - - -k - - - - - - j - - - - - -
if you add all of the dashes up from the row above, you will get your answer of 25 people in the line

Tema [17]
First off, "whatever%" of "anything" is just (whatever/100) * anything

part A)

so... firm A got 11,000 invested, turned a profit of 24%, how much is 24% of 11000? well (24/100) * 11000

firm B got 14,000 invested, and returned 15% in profits, how much is 15% of 14000?   (15/100) * 14000

part B)

for the amounts above, we get 2640 and 2100 respectively

so, the total profit "amount" is 2640 + 2100 or 4740

the total investement was 11000+14000 = 25000

if 25000 is the 100%, how much is 4740 in percentage?

\bf \begin{array}{ccllll}
amount&\%\\
\text{\textemdash\textemdash\textemdash}&\text{\textemdash\textemdash\textemdash}\\
25000&100\\
4740&x
\end{array}\implies \cfrac{25000}{4740}=\cfrac{100}{x}

solve for "x"

<h3>Answer: Bottom right corner (ie southeast corner)</h3>

This 3D solid is a strange sideways bowl shape. Each cross section is a ring to show the empty space.

======================================================

Explanation:

Check out the diagram below. The graph was created with GeoGebra. We have y = x^2 in red and x = y^2 in blue.

The gray region is the region between the two curves. We spin this gray region around the horizontal green line y = 1 to generate the answer mentioned above.

Note how (1,1) is a fixed point that does not move as this is on the line y = 1. Every other point moves to sweep through 3D space to create the solid figure. One way you can think of it is to think of propeller blades. Or you can think of a revolving door (the door is "flat" so to speak, but it sweeps out a 3D solid cylinder).
