What are some threats to Brazil’s biome??
Nostrana [21]

Answer:

Deforestation – From 2012 to 2013, deforestation increased by a staggering 28%. According to a UN report released in 2016, Brazil experienced a loss of nearly 55,000 hectares between the years 1990 and 2015

Farming – Demand for crops and livestock has increased, and natural vegetation has consequently been converted to crop and pasture areas. Between 1985 and 2006, total area for this use jumped from 126 to 161 million hectares.

Mining – Mining has caused severe environmental damage including oil spills and dam ruptures.

Desertification – Natural and anthropic factors have resulted in desertification, most notably in the Caatinga biome.

Illegal hunting and predatory fishing – Genetic diversity of fauna is threatened by poaching, which causes species extinction and disrupts the ecosystem’s food chain.

Infrastructure megaprojects – Highways, hydroelectric dams, and manufacturing plants have increased carbon dioxide and methane levels, accelerating climate change.

Natural and prescribed burning – Wildfires release large amounts of carbon dioxide into the air, while prescribed burning for agricultural purposes affects soil fertility and flora/fauna species.

Limited conservation areas – Private preserve areas need to be expanded to meet adequate levels of environmental protection.

Climate change – The effects of climate change, such as more frequent droughts, increasing temperatures, and additional wildfires, will negatively impact Brazil.

Why have myths been meaningful to humankind for thousands of years?
lidiya [134]

Answer:

Myths and Legends have been a big part of everyday life and have been passed on from generation to generation. They have inspired and taken a large place in society. But why are some myths and legends from the middle ages still very popular today? It is because they are gripping and entertaining. They designed their stories to be as complicated and detailed as possible so it would keep those listening to the stories entertained. This is because most people were illiterate probably due to the fact that about 90 per cent of the population were peasants and thus had little or no education. These highly entertaining stories have been passed on from the people of the Middle Ages down to us today and we have loved them so. So many of our stories today are based on concepts from the middle ages which prove we love them dearly. For example, we have all fallen in love with things like the Hobbit which is based completely around medieval warfare, magic and Dragons (Check out some info on them at mythological creatures). Another example is the TV show, Merlin based completely on the stories and myths of King Arthur and Merlin and all the adventures that took place. So the reason that we all have fallen in love with these Legends or Myths is because they are so intricate and beautifully woven that we have no choice but to love them.
